Entry: 7/13/18 - I tried something new, blogging using Facebook, click on the Speedster image below to access a link to a Facebook album containing all the details of the restoration.
Entry: 7/25/16 - So once again I go visit my buddy John Walker and see this faded little orange Speedster sitting in the corner and ask John about it. Next thing you know it's sitting in my garage and I'm fixing things, researching the history and come to realize that Intermeccanica Speedsters are actually quite rare, only built from 1976 to 1979 and less than 600 were built. This status of being a "manufactured" car rather than a "kit" car allows it to be considered a collectible vehicle in Washington State and titled as a 1958 Porsche "ASSY/CONV" type title. All I know is that it's a blast to drive that really turns heads for an order of magnitude reduction in the investment. What I do with it from here remains to be determined but simply fixing up the ripped upholstery and making it look more Porsche will keep me busy for a while.
I've located copies of the 1979 sales brochures that used to accompany the car on display in airports I used to see on my travels, I remember them clearly so I guess it goes to show it made an impression on my 20-something mind. Stay tuned....
